Mrs. Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Dr. Ralph Bunche study some of the dolls that were submitted to a “color jury” October 22nd, to decide on the most acceptable color for the first anthropologically correct black doll. The group of model heads was sculptured by award-winning artist Sheila Burlingame. Dr. Bunche, who is director of the U.N. Trusteeship Department, served on the jury, along with many other prominent people, 1951
